Strengthening leadership, coordination and economic development of the temperate fruit industry in northern Vietnam

This University of Queensland / ACIAR project supported the formation and development of a professional and inclusive multi-stakeholder industry association. It also facilitated the introduction of licenced stonefruit varieties and the dissemination of technical information about the production of temperate fruits.

 

Export market development - Avocados

This initiative involved working with key exporters and in-country retailers to increase Australian avocado exports in Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Improving smallholder incomes in the NW highlands of Vietnam by increasing access and competitiveness in regional temperate & subtropical fruit  markets

This University of Queensland / ACIAR project aimed to improve the income and livelihoods of ethnic minority households in north-western Vietnam. It aimed to increase their access to and competitiveness in Asian temperate fruit markets through more strategic market-driven industry planning and development.

This plan guided the investment of  approximately A$25 million in R&D and marketing activities on behalf of the Australian banana industry.

Review of passionfruit supply chains

This work collected baseline production and market data for the Australian passionfruit industry and reviewed supply chain performance identifying limitations impacting the profitability of the sector. It provided recommendations on how these limitations may be addressed at an industry level.

Industry development reviews

Industry Needs Assessments outline the approach and resources required by industries to gain adoption of outcomes resulting from industry R&D investment. These were conducted for the Australian avocados, almond, mango, persimmon and chestnut industries.

Australian pineapple industry - new industry levy process and submission

This work guided the Australian pineapple industry through a process to achieve a new R&D and marketing levy for the industry. It involved extensive consultation, development of appropriate business cases to support the proposal, organising ballot processes and submissions to government.
